The 2000s saw one of the biggest decades of ups and downs in the clubs history.
The decade started well with the club getting promoted into the Division Two (now League One) wearing the homemade 'VK' shirts which have since become iconic. That side was made up of some of the most talented players the club has ever had including multiple players through the club's youth academy. Our very own 'class of 92', or should it be class of 2001?
Relegation unfortunately followed but then a brilliant season unfolded in 2003/04 where the club reached the play-off final only to lose a heartbreaking penalty shoot-out after having a perfectly legitimate goal ruled out in the dying moments of extra time to win the game for the Stags.
A few seasons of mediocrity followed and then under questionable ownership the club fell into the National League, Blue Square Premier at the time, for the first time in the clubs history. During the mediocre years the club went through a couple of suppliers in Garman and Carlotti.
For the first season in the National League the club changed to Canturbury who supplied the club with kits for the final two seasons of the decade.
